Our optometric practice offers comprehensive family eyecare for your patients with any of the following medical conditions:

Diabetes

  • Diabetic retinopathy occurs when blood vessels in the retina become broken, or blocked resulting in vision loss.
  • Diabetic retinopathy is one of the leading causes of permanent vision loss in North America.
  • Routine retinal examinations outine retinal examinations for diabetic retinopathy can ensure timely treatment when necessary.

    Glaucoma

  • A disease that damages the optic nerve resulting in visual field vision loss.
  • People with glaucoma don’t know they have it because loss of vision occurs slowly until a significant amount of nerve damage has occurred.
  • Optic nerve photography and laser imaging are required to monitor optic nerve changes.

    Cataracts

  • The crystalline lens in the eye becomes cloudy.
  • Common symptoms are colour changes, frequent changes in your eyeglass prescription, impaired vision at night, halos around lights, and double vision.
  • If vision is significantly impaired cataract surgery is recommended.

    Retinal Disease

  • These can include diseases such as age related macular degeneration, retinal holes, retinal detachments, strokes, and toxicity from certain medications.

    Amblyopia/Strabismus

  • When one eye either does not see well compared to the other eye (lazy eye) or when one eye does not point in the correct direction compared to the other eye.

    Visual Field Defects

  • Field defects can be the result of a stroke, glaucoma, optic nerve disease, tumors or aneurysms.

    Cornea Disease

  • These can include abrasions, contact lens related diseases, infections, and ulcers.
